Newsletter June

Stay up to date!

Song of the month: Summer in the City – Joe Cocker
Dear SEC’er,

You may have read all previous SEConde Wijzers from A to Z, or maybe this is the first time you open this newsletter. In both cases: read on, because this is the last SEConde Wijzer of the year! I have had several people write a text in the previous SEConde Wijzers. In this last edition I take the chance to tell you something about myself. With that you finaly know which writer was hidden behind all these SEConde Wijzers, because that was me.
Now that I am at home recovering after knee surgery, and therefore unfortunately cannot join the study trip to Malta :’(, I have time to look back on the past year. I am the SECretary of SEC this year. If you think this is a boring function, then you are completely wrong. It is the most versatile function of the board. As a secretary you are the pivot within the association. I manage all social media and e-mail, so I know exactly what’s going on. In addition, as chair of the Promotion Committee, I can express my creativity fully.
I have experienced that it is very nice to work together as a team and to create something beautiful. I have gained a lot of new contacts. Not only within SEC, but also with people from other sociology associations. I traveled all universities where sociology is given, to organize the National Sociology Congress.
Although I’m going to miss working together on a board, I also get the time to focus on my studies and hobbies.
I wish you a very nice summer and you will receive the next newsletter from the pen of the new secretary.

Love,
Sophie Smit
