Welcome to the first newsletter of this fantastic academic year. Are you ready to use your books again? And did you drink enough Sec on the beach this summer? This year is a unique and special year, because it is our lustrum year. Our study association celebrates her 30th birthday this year!
As chairman of the lustRUMCommittee, I was asked to write an introduction for the first newsletter. Together with the committee, we will make this a festive year, with unique activities and parties. Think of a gala, an almanac, a lustrum trip, a lustrum festival and a fantastic SEC competition.
Four years ago, I started young and unthinking at the best major you can get in the Netherlands, a sociology bachelor at the UvA. After years of Marx, Durkheim and Weber, but also of parties and great weekly drinks, I completed my bachelor. Next year I will start with my master, and I have the privilege to be the chairman of the lustRUMCommittee. Together with the committee and all members of SEC, we are going to celebrate our 30th birthday!

Transferal General Meeting (21/09)
Come to the Transferal General Meeting on September 21, listen to the plans for the new academic year and take a critical look at the policy plans. There will be free food and afterwards we will go to the weekly drink! The exact time and location will be announced later.
Weekly drinks (‘borrels’)
Awesome! On Thursdays we have weekly drinks, starting at 20:30, together with Kwakiutl (anthropology) at a top location. Since the start of the new year we have a new location: Café Ruig. Come by and explore this place with us!

Next Thursday is the first ‘borrel’ of the year! Come to share your holiday stories with your favorite sociologists and anthropologists. - Lustrum opening drink (14/09)
SEC is 30 years old and that has to be celebrated! On September 14th we will celebrate this special year with a lustrum opening drink.
