Who are we?
Sociologisch EpiCentrum (SEC) is the study association for all sociology students at the UvA. SEC organizes both social as study related activities to bring students in contact and to ensure a more inspiring student time. SEC also provides book sales where members can buy their study books at a discount at the beginning of each semester.
Why should you become a member?
- A primary reason to become a SEC member is book sales. SEC provides a book sale at the beginning of each semester, where you can buy your study books at a discount. With the discount on your study books, you already have the registration fee for membership.
- SEC also organizes all sorts of activities every year, both social activities (such as parties, drinks and an introduction weekend) and study related activities (such as lectures, movie nights and a study trip).
- In addition, you can become a member of the ASVA Student Union with discount.
- You can develop your skills in one of our committees.
- And last but not least, you will meet many sociology students from different years!

Types of membership
- Bachelor membership: first year €20, then by direct debit €5 a year (for 4 years), in total 5 year membership for €40.
- Premaster membership: first year €20, then by direct debit €5 a year (for 1 years), in total 2 year membership for €25.
- Master membership: €10 for 1 year.

Did you stop studying sociology or do you no longer want to be a member? You can unsubscribe and stop the direct debit by sending an email to sec@sociologen.nl.
